Identikit is the second and final studio album by Burning Airlines, released in 2001, and further refines the band’s sharp, forward-thinking post-hardcore sound. Led by J. Robbins (Jawbox) and featuring members with backgrounds in Report Suspicious Activity, Kerosene 454 and Government Issue, the band builds on the foundation established with their debut while pushing into more expansive and nuanced territory.
Identikit, originally released in 2001 by DeSoto Records, showcases tightly constructed songs driven by complex rhythms, angular yet melodic guitar work, and controlled intensity. Compared to Mission Control!, the album places greater emphasis on atmosphere and dynamic variation, without losing focus or impact. Robbins’ distinctive vocal delivery remains central, adding urgency and clarity throughout.

Great company. Great record. Love it!
The records came out great and they are absolute J Robbins gems! However, I only gave 3 stars for other reasons. First, the timing of when the records were shipped and received was significantly later (2 months later) than the advertised delivery date. While I understand things can come up to cause delays, the greater problem was that Spartan did nothing to keep customers informed of any issues. Rather, I had to reach out myself on two separate occasions to get the scoop. A little proactive communication from Spartan would have been much appreciated. Secondly, I purchased both Burning Airlines albums at the same time and paid full price for each only to find out after-the-fact that they were being offered as a bundle for a discount….a discount that I did not receive. I was pretty miffed that I had to pay extra and that the “bundle” option was not apparent from the link the lured me to buy the albums to begin with.

First, thank you for the order and for the kind words about the records themselves. We couldn't agree more. They're incredible records, and we're thrilled to finally have them available again.
I completely understand the frustration surrounding the delivery timeline. These releases were manufactured through our partners at Thirty Something Records in Berlin, and the production schedule shifted multiple times throughout the process. We relayed those changes as they were communicated to us, including an email update sent to all customers on March 29th regarding the revised timeline. While I recognize that waiting longer than expected is disappointing, I did want to clarify that updates were sent as information became available.
Regarding the bundle pricing, I'd be happy to refund the difference between what you paid and the bundle price. The bundle was available alongside the individual titles on the release page, but I certainly understand how easy it is to miss an option when you're excited to place an order.
