American Opera's Debut Album "Small Victories" Out June 30th. Listen to "Monsters Among Men" at Paste

We’re so excited to release the debut full-length album from American Opera, Small Victories, on June 30th. More than a record, the album is a collection of moments, both devastating and victorious. Ominous nostalgia confronts hopeful reemergence. Sonically, think Manchester Orchestra meets Ryan Adams, Brand New meets Langhorne Slim — polished stones in a bed of gravel and grit. The result is a stunning eleven-song rollercoaster exploring a complete spectrum of emotion and experiences. It is an album of dynamics — a perfect balance of the fragile and explosive.

Stream the song “Monsters Among Men” exclusively at Paste Magazine and get an instant download of the song when you pre-order the album on CD/LP/Digital at the Spartan store, Bandcamp, or on iTunes.

This is a song about getting older while trying to stay true to who you were when you were young. I was raised in the church. Three things happened in my life that made me question everything I ever believed. My friend took his own life, my cousin's life was taken from him, and the Sandy Hook shooting. I still don't know what to believe. But I know what I want to believe. - John Bee

Most recently seen at SXSW and on tour with Carter Hulsey, American Opera will next play a short run of shows starting later this month, culminating with an appearance at Bledfest on May 27 in Howell, MI.
